Charlotte, North Carolina
Durban Group Office Headquarters is an adaptive reuse workplace design project in Charlotte, North Carolina, transforming a converted 1955 warehouse in Historic South End into a functional, creative, and engaging office environment.
Located steps from the New Bern Light Rail Station, the renovation reimagined approximately 9,052 square feet of existing warehouse space while preserving the building’s industrial character.
The design preserves the original warehouse character, including the exposed bow-truss ceiling, which adds texture, scale, and industrial warmth to the modern workplace.
A prominent internally focused café space of approximately 1,000 square feet was introduced as a social and collaborative hub. With restaurant-style seating and a draft system, the café functions as both a workplace amenity and an expression of company culture.
The office fit-out incorporates playful but purposeful features, including a poured-concrete ping pong table and a putting green, designed to support informal interaction, employee well-being, and a more engaging workplace experience.
The result is a brand-forward headquarters that balances industrial authenticity, modern functionality, productivity, and employee engagement within a transformed historic warehouse.
