The Outpost

Columbia, South Carolina.

This $45 million public-private redevelopment project is designed to re-imagine a long-overlooked downtown park in Columbia, SC, transforming it into a vibrant, immersive hub for community engagement and active recreation. At the heart of the redevelopment is a dynamic indoor/outdoor climbing center, seamlessly integrated with a full-service restaurant and fitness facility to foster year-round activity. An amphitheater, thoughtfully embedded into the natural hillside adjacent to the climbing walls, will host large concerts and cultural events, creating a powerful connection between performance, landscape, and community. The masterplan also includes an open-air biergarten and food hall, envisioned as a lively social anchor that complements the park’s active and inclusive energy.

Liquid Design provided comprehensive conceptual design services for this transformative initiative, including master planning, architectural programming, detailed building layouts, and visual renderings. Working closely with the City of Columbia and key stakeholders, our team shaped a bold vision that reconnects the community to its urban green space through architecture, recreation, and shared experience.
