River Center Expansion is a recreation facility expansion project designed as a 15,000-square-foot addition to support growing campus needs at the U.S. National Whitewater Center.
The expansion includes a new guest services area, retail space, meeting space, and a catering kitchen designed to meet campus-wide food and beverage needs.
The design builds on the existing River Center while adding new program areas that improve visitor experience, operations, gathering, and service capacity across the campus.
The addition extends the existing architectural vernacular of cedar, steel, glass, and concrete while introducing two new materials: weathering steel and Ipe wood.
The result is a thoughtful expansion that supports the continued growth of the campus while maintaining a strong connection to the existing architecture, landscape, and outdoor recreation experience.
