Rockford
Rockford, Illinois.
This visionary multi-million dollar mixed-use adventure sports park is planned for a prominent riverfront site along the Rock River in the heart of Rockford, Illinois. Anchored by a partially indoor, Olympic-caliber man-made whitewater facility, the project also includes a canyoneering venue and an integrated climbing center—offering a range of dynamic, year-round recreation. The development is further enriched by a resort hotel, multi-family residential options, and a vibrant retail and dining district. Sustainability plays a key role in the project’s identity, with on-site hydroelectric generation from the adjacent dam and rooftop solar panels powering portions of the whitewater facility.
This transformative riverfront redevelopment is a cornerstone of Rockford’s broader strategy to reimagine the Rock River as a vital civic and economic asset. Water taxis will connect key nodes along the river, creating a unique pedestrian-focused transportation system that links recreational, residential, and commercial areas. At its core, the project seeks to activate the riverfront, encourage public engagement with the water, and elevate the river’s role in driving future growth.
