At the heart of THE LAKE—a landmark $1.1 billion outdoor recreation and mixed-use development in the suburbs of Richmond, Virginia—is a world-class surf park, designed to be one of the largest artificial wave facilities globally. Utilizing Endless Surf’s surf pool technology, this iconic attraction defines the spirit of the project, establishing The Lake as the East Coast’s premier adventure destination. Complementing the surf park is a 9-acre man-made lake dedicated to wakeboarding, along with a wide spectrum of water-centric recreational offerings. The master plan thoughtfully blends high-performance recreation with lifestyle-driven amenities, including destination dining, boutique retail, two hotels, diverse residential options, and a mix of office and community-use spaces—all unified by a cohesive, experience-forward design.

Planned as a six-phase development, The Lake is currently advancing through Phases 2 and 3. Liquid Design is providing full-scope architectural services—including master planning, program development, and construction administration—guiding the project’s execution to reflect the original vision with both design clarity and technical precision.
